Paola Fornari’s parents left Italy for Tanganyika in 1951. In her father’s words, the move was a ‘leap into the light of an incredible experience, into a world light years distant from ours, a world whose dimensions are so different from those in Europe…’

Three years later Paola was born on Ukerewe Island in Lake Victoria. The family moved house, and often towns, twelve times when she was a child. Join Paola as she introduces her forthcoming book, Into Africa, and shares stories of snakes, journeys to boarding school that take several days…and a climb to the summit of the highest mountain in Africa.
