Pursuant to art. 13 of EU Regulation 2016/679 (hereafter “GDPR”), we inform you of the following:

The data transmitted to Expatclic.com will be stored and processed with the security and confidentiality guarantees provided by the GDPR and will be used for the activities of the Expatclic Italia association, as well as for the obligations established by law.

The transmitted data will not be communicated, in any way, to third parties, except for legal obligations.

Processed data, purposes and legal bases of processing

Data generated by accessing the site

The computer systems and software procedures used to operate this site acquire, during their normal operations, some personal data whose transmission is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols.

These data (such as domain names, IP addresses, operating system used, type of browser device used for connection) are not accompanied by any additional personal information and are used to:

    1. obtain anonymous statistical information on the use of the website;
    2. ii) manage control requirements on how to use it,
    3. iii) ascertain responsibility in case of hypothetical computer crimes.

The legal basis that legitimizes the processing of such data is the need to make the functionality of the website usable as a result of user access.

Data provided voluntarily by the user

Personal data (name and e-mail address) must be provided by users on registering with the Expatclic website only if they want to comment on our articles. Personal data are also requested in case you want to contact us through the contact form in the “Contact us” section.

Personal data are collected and processed for the following purposes:

a. for administrative purposes and for the fulfillment of legal obligations such as accounting or tax ones, or to comply with requests from the judicial authorities;
b. in the presence of specific consent, for the periodic sending, via e-mail, of newsletters and for private communications between Expatclic and the user (the latter, only in the hypothesis of registration as an honorary member of Expatclic);
c. in the presence of specific consent, to receive updates on our activities or invitations to events / activities organized by the Expatclic Italia association;
d. in the case of sending curriculum vitae, exclusively for selection purposes.

In the cases expressly indicated, the legal basis is the consent freely given by the interested party, in other cases, the legal basis is represented by the obligations imposed by law.

To receive donations to Expatclic.com, PayPal (www.paypal.com) is used, to whose site reference is made for specific regulations on the processing of data required to make payments.

Expatclic.com sends a monthly newsletter through a form of http://mailchimp.com, adapted to the recent GDPR regulation and that you can find on the website (http://www.expatclic.com/newsletter/). Required fields are e-mail address, first name, surname, nationality and country of residence. For specific legislation on the processing of data registered with Mailchimp, please refer to their website.

Nature of the conferment

Apart from what specified for navigation data, the provision of data:
• with respect to the purposes referred to in letter a) above is optional but any refusal will make it impossible for Expatclic to proceed with the performance of its activities and tax obligations.
• Compared to the purposes referred to in letter b), c), d) it is also optional and their use is conditional upon the issue of an explicit consent. Any refusal will make it impossible for Expatclic Italia to send communications, newsletters, or invitations to events and initiatives of Expatclic Italia.


Cookies are small data files that are saved on the hard disk of the device used by the user, so as to be detected when the user revisits the Expatclic website. Data collected through cookies are used exclusively for internal purposes and are never transmitted to third parties.

It is possible to visit the website and use the applications even without cookies. Most browsers accept cookies automatically. You can avoid automatic registration of cookies by selecting the appropriate option in your browser settings. Through the browser it is also possible to delete at any time any cookies already present on the hard disk.

Methods of treatment and storage time

The data collected will be processed using electronic or automated means, computerized and telematic, or by manual processing with logic strictly related to the purposes for which the personal data were collected and, in any case, in such a way as to guarantee the security of the same. The data are kept for the time strictly necessary for the management of the purposes for which the data are collected in compliance with current regulations and legal obligations.

If the user leaves a comment, the comment and its metadata are kept indefinitely. This is how Expatclic can automatically recognize and approve any subsequent comments instead of keeping them in a moderation queue.

The data obtained through the contact form are kept long enough to respond to the user and satisfy the request.

The data collected through the MailChimp form are kept until the user decides to delete them, using the “unsubscribe” command on the newsletters sent by this, or by writing to contact@expatclic.com

In any case, Expatclic observes specific security measures to prevent data loss, illicit or incorrect use and unauthorized access. The database with the information resides on a server reserved for encrypted access using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protocols.

Rights of the interested party

The interested party may at any time exercise the rights referred to in Articles 15 to 22 of the GDPR.

In particular, the interested party may in any case revoke the consent, if previously expressed. You will also have the right to request the modification, integration, updating, confirmation or cancellation of the data stored, the right to object to the processing of personal data concerning him and the right to the portability of the data.

These rights can be exercised through the following methods:

Finally, the interested party may lodge a complaint with the Supervisory Authority (Guarantor Authority for the protection of personal data – www.garanteprivacy.it).

Owner and manager of the treatment, place of conservation

The data controller is Expatclic Italia, with registered office in Viale Coni Zugna, 10, 20144 Milan. The Data Processor is Claudia Landini, claudiaexpat@expatclic.com president of the association.

The data is stored on a shared server at OVH, based in Roubaix, France.
