The Tuscan Housewife is the blog created by Petrina, an Australian girl who moved to Tuscany. In her blog, Petrina describes her life in beautiful Tuscany, from every possible angle: the Tuscan lifestyle, recipes, things to do, and she also gives tips on expat living! We thank her for taking time to answer our questions.
What took you abroad?
I moved abroad to follow my heart. I fell in love with an Italian man 18 years ago and moved to Italy to be with him. He is now my husband and father of my three children.
Why a blog?
I started The Tuscan Housewife because I needed a creative outlet and I had always loved writing. Having a very busy life with 3 young children, I liked the idea that a blog was something I could manage in my free time.
Have you found any difficulties in setting it up and managing it? Are you assisted by someone or did you do everything on your own?
I have mostly managed on my own with a little bit of help from my technical savvy husband. I have recently had a friend (who has her own blog) help me with changing from Blogger to WordPress and she has taught me a lot about SEO and other technical areas of blogging that I was ignorant about. It has been a big learning curve for me.
With what frequency do you publish on your blog?
I was trying to write something each week or at least 4 per month but unfortunately have not been able to be consistent recently. I am hoping with the change to WordPress I will able to become more regular again with my blogging.
Give us three reasons why your blog is important to you
*it gives me a creative outlet
*it allows me to communicate with people
*it helps me to look closely at the details of life so I miss less of the world around me and get to see things in a different way.
Have you met people through your blog?
I haven’t been happy with Blogger as I believe it blocked people’s ability to comment. I therefore haven’t met anyone through my blog, but through my Instagram account, which is attached to the blog, I have met people and very much enjoy this contact. I am looking forward to this being increased by using WordPress.
